Uphill Digging

One of the most underrated breaks ever came from this Kid Dynamite tune. Check out this oldie but goodie, and make sure listen all the way through!

Kid Dynamite - Uphill Peace of Mind

Love Digging

Check out jazz great, Lou Donaldson. For you hip hoppers, Eazy Mo Bee sampled this a few times. See if you can pick it up.

Lou Donaldson - Who's Making Love

Christmas Digging - Marvin

Bringing in the Holiday Spirit, DCD wouldn't feel complete without presenting a Christmas song or two. This one is by one of the best ever, Marvin Gaye, who always took a different approach in his songs. Out of all angles, he made this Christmas song about being a prisoner of war in Vietnam, and how he misses seeing snowflakes and Santa Claus. Who does that?? A GENIUS, that's who! This is a bonifide classic and should be played on the radio more often...

Marvin Gaye - I Want To Come Home For Christmas

Christmas Digging - James

DCD brings in the Christmas cheer and the Holiday funk with this James Brown tune. I won't listen to anything else this season.

James Brown - Soulful Christmas

Digging for Africa

Brought to you by the homie J Shepherd, this dig comes from the classic Soundtrack "Shaft In Africa". See if you can spot the samples in there.

Johnny Pate - Shaft in Africa

Digging For Some Understanding

When you define SOUL, you can't go any further than this performance. Louisville, KY's own New Birth came out the frame with this jam from the short-lived PBS Show "SOUL!" that aired back in the early 70s.

Digging for a Dancing Legend

For those Soul Train fans like those in the DCD crew, you have to know this guy. Jimmy "Scoo B Doo" Foster was a regular on the first few years of Soul Train, and one of the original members of the "Soul Train Gang". He is one of the inventors of the Pop Lock, and all of hip hop dancing probably originated from this dude. If you run across some old episodes, Scoo B Doo is definitely not hard to find! It's amazing that he still has the moves after 40+ years. We present you 2 videos... Scoo B Doo then (early 70s) and now (about 2012).

Tribute to Jimmy Scoo B Doo Foster

Then - Back in the 60s and 70s

Now - This dude has to be close to 70yrs old!
