Digging Your Booty

What can you say about Sly? The genius himself has been sampled thousands of times, and this funky jam has some familiar riffs that''ll make you smile once you take a listen. Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego!

Mack Digging

This was a jam from the classic movie "The Mack".  It was not on Willie Hutch's life-changing soundtrack, and was a song that that I couldn't seem to find anywhere. After some digital digging, we finally found Sisters Love out of Oakland and their early Eastbay funk sound that was used as a backdrop for the Playas Ball.

Digging for Some Sugar

This was dug from a great early 1970s show called SOUL!  I guess this was in the era of Jackson 5 copies, but these little fellas can actually perform!  These guys were out of Baltimore, and seemed to have a nice groove going here.  This is a great tune, plenty of soul, and has beautiful lyrics.  When was the last time you called your loved one your "Sugar Brown"?

Digging This Lady

Ran across this gem while watching a Soul Train rerun from about 1975.  It definitely has some funk in it! I'm surprised that lots of producers haven't used this melody for a song yet. Oh yeah, this was also the first time I've ever seen the Soul Train Scramble Board not get solved!!
