Digging for an Impression
I ran across this Impressions song recently... I would consider this a true digital crate dig because I really don't think anyone has sampled it (yet), but I'm sure this smooth groove will get lots of attention. It reminds me of the same style of "Be Thankful For What You Got" or better known as "Diamond in the back, sunroof top... diggin the scene with the gangsta lean wooo wooooooo" (sorry, but you gotta finish the whole thang!).

Just Begun to Dig
Just Begun to Dig
This song usually ends up on all of my mix tapes for some reason... No matter the type of music on the rest of the tape, this will end up sneaking in.
Studio Version (shout out to the B-Boys and Hip Hoppers who still feel this song)

Eastbay Digging
Eastbay Digging
Tower of Power is probably one of the most underrated groups of all time. Fresh out of Oakland's Eastbay Funk Movement, these cats had the funky horn game on lock. Tight horns and vocals by "oh oh oh oh oh" himself Lenny Williams, this is one of their under the radar songs. Since youtube has some sort of beef with T.O.P. songs, the best I could do was find a live version. Enjoy this dig...
DCD BONUS! Here is one of their popular jams (with Lenny singing)

Digging In The Alley
Digging In The Alley
There's not much to say about this Emotions track from 1972. I have to admit that finding this track is not really digging, but one of the funkiest songs ever built. Before they left to sing with Earth, Wind, and Fire and later taking their group to new heights, they were on Volt (Stax) dropping the funk. Here is "Blind Alley" for your ears and soul.
